Working in dog rescue can be about finding a home for a poor, abandoned dog, who needs someone to show them that they are loved; someone to give them shelter, water, food and cuddles. It’s amazing when you see a dog come through the trauma of being neglected, to becoming the happy loving dog they are all meant to be. And, let’s face it, we all love to watch Paul O’Grady work his magic for the cameras on TV supporting the work that the larger rescue centres do.

There are lots of Great Boxers looking for homes. All these groups operate as not-for-profit entities, and each has particular requirements for prospective homes. We at AABR don't shy from challenges and hope that you support us in our endeavor. Whether they are dogs with medical issues or behavior challenges, by your support you obviously agree with our mission to give each dog a second chance. Even though my stunning white dog breed has been around since 1928, I wasn’t recognized by the American Kennel Club until 2020.
I can sense what you need, like when you’re craving a cuddle or want to play. With one look into my big brown eyes, you’ll fall hard and fast for me. Can I be your one and only—at least for the time being? I could potentially thrive alongside a well-matched larger dog, but living with smaller dogs or other pets isn’t my cup of tea. Country living or something outside the city limits would be awesome. Since I have a strong prey drive (I think it’s fun to chase squirrels and other small animals), I can’t be roomies with cats or small animals.

Are you curious about the world around you? I like to go on car rides and watch the world go by. I’m easy and breezy on the leash too, whether we’re walking along trails, admiring a pretty neighborhood from the sidewalk or hanging out with friends. I’m a German dog breed, so I thought I would impress you with my language skills. The term means “good day,” and almost every day is a good day when you’re with me. It’s true that I come off as a little shy at first.
I’m still a bit shy with new people, but once I warm up, watch out! My foster dog brothers are super fun to play with, and I would like to be in a home with another dog. Because of my health conditions, I require more hands-on care and daily attention than some dogs. My foster family says caring for a dog like me has been extremely rewarding.

The application will be forwarded to us and a representative will contact you. Taking an easy dog from someone who has to move and rehoming him/her is not a huge challenge.
And I don’t let a day go by without showering my human with sweet, tiny kisses. And not to toot my own horn too much, but I’m pretty great with kids, cats and other dogs too. I love and dote on my humans, but when it comes to cats … not so much. I know some dogs are good around cats, but I’m just not crazy about them. And I guarantee you’ll get enough love from me that you won’t want another pet. I should mention that I’m dog selective, particularly on walks, so routes without the chance of puppy encounters would make both of us happier.
Should your first choices have found their forever home, let us suggest a few. Be happy for the ones that have been adopted… The right Boxer is worth waiting for. Fostering is not a lifetime commitment, its a commitment to save a life. If you can open your home and heart to Stella we will fully support you to help her settle - even if you can offer her a foster home we would be so very grateful .
I’ve got some awesome Australian dog breed genes in me. You can see some of the hallmark features, like my speckled coat. Aussies are widely known for their faithfulness and work ethic, and I hesitate to humble brag, but I’m a bona fide, badge-wearing member of the behavioral staff at the shelter.
It’s OK if you stopped scrolling because I have gorgeous eyes. I also have a zest for life, and my heart is overflowing with love. If you long for a loyal dog breed that will never leave your side, then let’s chat. You know huskies are known for being chatty, right? My foster mom says she appreciates the way I fill the silence in her life. Unfortunately, this is only a small proportion of the work that breed rescues perform.
But more than a year ago, I was pregnant and brought to the shelter. I was super stressed but warmed up to the volunteers over time. My foster family knows I’m no Karen, which is why I answer to the nicknames Kiki and Keeks. I’m fun-loving and playful, and human companionship is my fave.
The challenge is transporting and caring for dogs like Marshall, Dude, and Hutch, Uma, Lucy and now Stella. The challenge is finding the funds to help the dogs in need of medical care. I have boundless energy, but it comes in a really cute package . It’s fun and challenging for me to be active, but I’m equally enthusiastic about brain games.
